A product activation issue with Matchmover BUT potentially only under quite specific config. 1. Win 7 x64 OS - fresh build. No version of Maya ever installed on it. 2. Maya 2011 x64 hotfix 3 installed. 3. Also, things like Composite 2011 & Matchmover 2011 installed as well. 4. Licensing via standard flexlm, single licence server. 5. Windows system environment variables set, "MAYA_ALT_EN" and the other one that controls global "documents\maya" location (can't remember the exact location of teh top of my head) 6. The "MAYA_ALT_EN" tells local clients to use licence path = "c:\flexlm\aw.dat" which in turn points to the float server. 6.?Maya 2011 and Composite 2011 startup fine pulling flexlm?licence?from floating server, which is running Win2003 x32. HOWEVER... Matchmover 2011 boots up ONLY after I make the hack as described at the bottom of the following forum post: ie: This is a fresh install of Maya 2011 with Matchmover 2011 and I had never had any Maya 2010 product installed before. Fixed the issue: In c:\flexlm\MatchMoverLicense.log file it references ?623866 ::: ?c:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2010/adlm/en_US?? So I simply created that path: c:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2010\adlm\en_US Then copied ?AdlmIntRes.xml? from c:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2011\adlm\en_US to : c:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2010\adlm\en_US Now this solves the startup failure for me and Matchmover application now starts up, BUT the Matchmover "Product Activation" web window now pops up, stating I have 20 days to register the product and surprise, surprise, working through the web-page for registering online, my Maya serial number is invalid, although I have checked with my reseller and its fine. So, it looks like Matchmover 2011 hates running on a Windows OS if it has never had Maya2010 installed and more importantly?licensed?on it. ?The forum post hack helped BUT didn't completely resolve licensing issues. Has anyone seen this issue or know of any workarounds/solutions? Does a Matchmover system environment variable exist to?enforce?network?float licensing? Thanks, Mike |

For what it's worth, I found the new Autodesk license server prefers the client license reference by machine name and not by IP address: SERVER machineName.domain.com 0 -----Original Message----- >From: Mike Owen [mailto:mjnowen@gmail.com] >Sent: Friday, September 3, 2010 06:32 PM >To: discuss@studiosysadmins.com >Subject: [SSA-Discuss] MatchMover 2011 Product Activation > >A product activation issue with Matchmover BUT potentially only under quite >specific config. > >1. Thanks Bill. Our client licence file is set to a DNS name already and all our client machines are able to pull a Maya licence, so I don't think this is the issue for us. Thanks, Mike
