I just verified one that I was using on my Ubuntu Linux. The Marvell chipset seems to be reliable. My $.02.

Bottom line: One SATA link from your motherboard/PCI SATA card goes in, and five SATA links come out that you attach to drives. (In some cases, four links come out.)

(BTW, these are not recommendations, just random links. Check the Backblaze link somebody posted a couple of weeks ago for information on cards that'll actually work.)
