I also have a plan to start researching this, so any experience would be
helpful.

Hi all,
Is anyone currently using msdfs via Samba (or via Windows Server) to unify
Windows mount points?
For those who aren't familiar with it, msdfs allows you to mount a bunch of
servers on a single drive letter. It's handy if you're running out of drive
letters because you've got too many servers.
I remember using it at DKP a few years back and having uneven experiences.
Specifically, performance was sometimes wildly different between UNC and
drive letter paths, and path elements would sometimes repeat themselves if
they were accessed in certain ways. Have things gotten better?
I'm tempted to try it again, but I'd like to know if anyone has managed to
use it since then without problems.
