Large presentation monitors

Hello everyone, We're in the market for a new display in our flame suite. Something around 50" that will properly play back all formats we can throw at it. (23.98, 29.97, 1080p and 1080i etc etc) I'm not looking for a professional 4k monitor or anything like that, just a pro-sumer level display hopefully around $5k USD. We currently have a sony bravia that I'm not very impressed by. No bnc input, only plays back 24fps over hdmi, and the color is bleh.

I know many consumer TVs will not play back 23.98 properly, so does anyone have any suggestions?

Also are there displays that will play back both PAL and NTSC? Does that even exist?

Thanks
Re: Large presentation monitors

Re: Large presentation monitors

Any thoughts on the Panasonic TH50PF11UK?

Does every spec known to man...Has addon slots. We have an older model in our other office that I like.

Also only 2300 which is nice.

Hi Bryce, we tend to recommend the Panasonic TH-PF11UK 50” Plasma with a Cinetal Davio to make it as accurate as possible. You may also want to look at the Cinetal B420 which is 42” but has all of the inputs you may want and the ability to load LUTs to calibrate it and supports SD, HD, 2K with dual link HD SDI.

The Panasonic 50PF11UK is a great monitor. I have profiled them many times with great success. They are actually one of the only Plasma panels that decouples, which is important for color calibration and accuracy. One of my customers has three of these in each of their 2 Flame suites, and the third in the Lustre suite. We profiled all three and each decoupled and locked/tracked to a Cine-Tal B230 master monitor as the target.
They also have the HDSDI I/O option available. The Panasonic's are becoming the standard... for now.

Vinit mentioned the Pioneer Elite which is also a great monitor, but I believe Panasonic bought that line from Pioneer about 1 year ago.

Panasonic’s TH-50PF11UK. We have these in all our post rooms. A very sweet monitor. The display comes with optional input cards for HD –SDI and HDMI.

I second that monitor. They are great. We rent those out to a lot of the studios here in LA and haven't had any complaints. Mainly for short-term projects or to let them try it before they buy it. If anyone is interested they rent for $895 a month.

Re: Large presentation monitors

The 50PF11UK has also been great for us.
