Sony Pictures Imageworks is looking for qualified candidates for our VANCOUVER, CANADA STUDIO located in Yaletown!

Sony Pictures Imageworks Inc. is the Academy Award® winning, state-of-the-art animation and visual effects unit of Sony Pictures Digital Productions. The Imageworks production environment supports live-action visual effects and character animation, all-CG animation, and Imageworks 3D stereoscopic.  Imageworks’ achievements have been recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with Oscars® for its work on SPIDER-MAN™ 2 and the CG animated short film THE CHUBBCHUBBS! Along with a total of 10 nominations.  
 
Imageworks’ latest projects include ALICE IN WONDERLAND, 2012, CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS, G-FORCE, WATCHMEN, VALKYRIE, BODY OF LIES, EAGLE EYE, HANCOCK, SPEED RACER, BEOWULF, and I AM LEGEND. HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA and THE SMURFS, a Columbia Pictures production in association with Sony Pictures Animation.

 We are looking for SYSTEMS ENGINEERS to work in our Vancouver Studio which is set to open in spring of this year.

About the Job

1. This is an advanced position and you will be a member of the core infrastructure engineering team responsible for technical support  in our Vancouver office.

Responsibilities

1. Be available for on-call, night and weekend support as necessary.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Requirements/Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is desirable

Minimum five (5) years of Linux, Mac and Windows administration experience, preferably in a lead or senior position.

Strong proficiency in Python and Perl.  Scripting in Korn or Bourne shell.

Experience with Java, Javascript, XML/RPC, ICE, Django, SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, a plus.

Experience with xen, kvm, vmware, apache, tomcat, memcached preferred.

1. Cloud computing experience, a plus.

Experience with Linux performance tuning,  kernel tuning.

Experience with Redhat or Centos Linux distribution and administration, a plus.

Understanding of NAS and SAN storage architectures and related protocols: NFS, CIFS, FC, iSCSI  NetApp or Isilon experience a plus.

Understanding of LAN and WAN network technologies and related protocols:  TCP/IP, HTTP, proxies, WAN acceleration
