Position Overview:
 
The Studio System Administrator leads and provides support for our state-of-the-art production technology infrastructure including Windows and Mac systems, Final Cut Server technology, Apple XSAN and Facilis Terrablock systems, Windows and SQL Server environments and digital signage.
 
The successful candidate must have an acute understanding of Apple technology, including Final Cut Server, while being able to optimize the team’s video production and digital signage systems within the company’s overall Windows operating environment. Success in this role will be evident by having won the confidence of numerous internal stakeholders, being able to juggle multiple and often competing priorities and demonstrating the ability to understand, develop and lead technology road maps and upgrade schedules. The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellent communication skills, effectively being able to interact and provide guidance at all levels of the organization.
 
Responsibilities:
 

  • Administer and troubleshoot Mac, Final Cut Server, XSAN and Terrablock technologies; lead maintenance and upgrade schedules.
  • Deploy, troubleshoot, and administer digital signage globally on the Omnivex and Mediatile technology platforms; lead maintenance and technology roadmap for our internal digital signage.
  • Create and update design layouts for our digital signage.
  • Provide technology support to Windows and Mac users within the unit.
  • Provide Final Cut Server support to the video production and post-production teams, including support on ingesting, archiving and restoring digital assets; optimize Final Cut Server workflow and digital management processes to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the production environment.
  • Provide Final Cut Pro editing software support to editors, including support on importing, exporting and media management of digital assets through the entire post-production process.
  • Collaborate with third parties to work through issues with beta releases and unique development environments.
  • Create multi-faceted technical documentation and artifacts to provide architectural support for project implementations.
  • Liaise regularly with the company business technology team to design, implement and maintain our unit’s technology infrastructure within the corporate IT and LAN/WAN environment.
  • Document changes to the technology infrastructure.
  • Understand and document the security implications of various technologies.

 
Required Skills & Abilities:
 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent project management skills with the proven ability to influence remote teams in the implementation of programs.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with the demonstrated ability to embrace change; comfortable interacting at all operating levels of an organization; ability to liaise and build consensus between developers, power users, and business users.

  • Must have a strong analytical and troubleshooting skills as well as a strong detail orientation.
  • Exceptional ability to adapt efficiently and effectively to a demanding and changing work environment managing flexible hours, multiple tasks, competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of video editing using Final Cut Pro and experience with digital signage are assets.
  • Understanding of digital video technologies such as; encoding (H.264, VC1, 3GPP), content delivery, streaming, and digital rights management.
  • Working knowledge of directory protocols including Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Open Directory and Active Directory

 
Education Required:
 

  • Undergraduate degree in a related technology discipline.
  • At least four years experience working in a corporate technology environment supporting Macs, Windows or preferably both.
  • Minimum three years experience with Cisco Routers, switches, firewalls, VPN devices, TCP/IP, Solaris, VMWare ESX, Windows XP, Window Server 2003, MS SQL, MS Exchange, Symantec Backup Exec, Terminal Services, Active Directory and remote access administration.
  • Certification in Microsoft and/or Cisco, Final Cut Server, Facilis Terrablock and Apple XSAN technologies.
