Frame 25 is a specialist Broadcast Consultancy. At the moment one of our clients is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to support their existing infrastructure and be involved with new projects. 

 
Principal Responsibilities:
 
•    You will be responsible for front line user support.
•    You will be responsible for aiding all production users to resolve software / hardware configuration issues.
•    Render farm configuration and support. Rendering from multiple applications. Realise have a 30 machine render farm.
•    Implementation of strategies for data management including designing and implementing workflows. This will require an ability to create tools in a variety of scripting languages to enable smooth operation of data aspects of facility.
•    Responsible for building and configuration of servers and workstations.
•    Support of network hardware/configuration, servers, storage, backup systems etc.
•    You will be responsible for Problem diagnostics and the resolution of these.
 
Experience/Knowledge:
 
•    Good working knowledge of computer hardware, networking and operating systems.
•    Maintaining and providing support for these systems
•    Provide technical support for VFX Artists using Linux workstations
•    Taking ownership of and assist the team with various evaluation, installation, development and decommissioning projects
•    Good working knowledge of interfaces to databases and workflow tools using web programming languages. HTML, XML, PHP, Java, MySQL.
•    Require working knowledge of automated machine build and configuration using PXE/Kick-start and RIS.
•    Network Configuration experience using services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, SNMP, NFS, AFP, SMB/SAMBA, LDAP/Open Directory.
•    Help drive the strategy for our in-house system operations tools
•    Troubleshooting issues that affect production
•    Help identify upcoming business requirements, recommend and implement solutions, and provide input for the design of next generation technology
•    Maintaining and providing support for these systems
•    Identify changing requirements, recommend and develop solutions.
•    Experience using a range of operating systems to include Linux, IRIX, MacOS/Windows.
•    Technical documentation
•    Providing general help to other members of the systems team
•    Provide support to artists needing assistance to solve challenging problems
•    Technically adept
•    Able to take direction
•    Proven team player with good organisation and communication skills.
•    Knowledge of C++ and Python required.
